外務省は2月27日、イタリア北部のロンバルディア州、ヴェネト州、エミリア＝ロマーニャ州に、感染症危険情報の「レベル1（十分注意してください。）」を発出した。
イタリアでは1月30日に、新型コロナウイルス感染者が2人確認され、以降、ロンバルディア州、ヴェネト州、エミリア＝ロマーニャ州を中心に感染が拡大。2月26日時点での感染者は400人で、うち12人が死亡した。
ロンバルディア州内の10自治体、ヴェネト州の1自治体では、感染拡大防止のため、出入禁止などの措置を行っており、今後も移動の制約が広がる可能性があることや、カナダやデンマークなどが渡航の注意喚起を発出していることから、状況を総合的に勘案して決定した。
在留邦人や渡航者に対しては、現地の状況が急激に悪化する可能性も念頭に、現地の最新情報の収集と感染予防に万全を期すよう求めている。
